offered include Ornithology: Bird Identification, 150th Anniversary of the Civil

Ornithology: Bird Identification It’s that time of year, and we are getting
ready to hang our feeder, waiting with anticipation for our feathered friends to
discover them. But what is that bird? Bird identification can be fun or
downright frustrating when you don’t know what you’re looking at! The course
will address the tools experienced birders use, some of the common obstacles to
successful identification and how to overcome them. Course content is intended
for the beginning birder with little or no experience. Cost: $10

premier Russian folk ensemble outside of Russia. Barynya presents Russian,
Cossack, Ukrainian, Jewish and Gypsy Roma traditional dancing, music, songs, and

Enjoy the long Columbus Day weekend, October 7-10th, and visit the many shops,
galleries, restaurants and attractions of Harbor Country for special events,
tastings and exhibits.
Fun for all ages! Children’s activities include a pumpkin carving contest,
apple bobbing, hayrides, and a corn maze. Caramel apples, pumpkin pancakes,

farmers markets. Galleries will display artists’ interpretations of autumn

scarecrows, Open Houses, artist receptions, culinary demonstrations and tastings,
and family fun activities. Don’t miss the popular Harvest & Wine Fest
featuring live music, wine tasting, and children’s activities at New Buffalo’s
Lions Park.
Take pleasure in the glorious fall colors as you walk, bike, or drive throughout
the Harbor Country communities of Michiana, Grand Beach, New Buffalo, Three

80 wines from all over the globe at this walk-around tasting. Wine industry
professionals will be on hand to facilitate and answer questions that arise.
Chef Jenny Drilon of Bentwood Tavern has designed a specifically paired tasting
menu of seasonal foods for the evening. Special programming that evening will
feature Black Star Farms, Michigan’s award winning winery, located in Suttons
Bay on Leelanau Peninsula. Recently, chef Mario Batali called the Black Star
Farms Arcturos Cabernet Franc, "the best Michigan wine ever."
Additionally, publisher, Victoria Brenneman of Edible Michiana will be on hand
to introduce the new publication to attendees. The magazine is part a nationwide
group of locally published magazines. Edible Michiana is dedicated to the
growing local food movement in northern Indiana and southwest lower Michigan.
