Ornithology: Bird Identification It’s that time of year, and we are getting ready to hang our feeder, waiting with anticipation for our feathered friends to discover them. But what is that bird? Bird identification can be fun or downright frustrating when you don’t know what you’re looking at! The course will address the tools experienced birders use, some of the common obstacles to successful identification and how to overcome them. Course content is intended for the beginning birder with little or no experience.  Cost: $10

Special programming that evening will feature Black Star Farms, Michigan’s award winning winery, located in Suttons Bay on Leelanau Peninsula. Recently, chef Mario Batali called the Black Star Farms Arcturos Cabernet Franc, "the best Michigan wine ever." Additionally, publisher, Victoria Brenneman of Edible Michiana will be on hand to introduce the new publication to attendees. The magazine is part a nationwide group of locally published magazines.
